Justice

The criminal system is slowly becoming easier to get through. People are getting away with crimes that should have severe punishments. What is so wrong with the death penalty? If you don't want to be killed then don't commit the crime that results in a death penalty! Bring back the death penalty and more victim rights, ENSURE JUSTICE!

  1. I think the Criminal system needs to be updated so that people don't just get away with the crimes they commit. I'm not saying the death penalty should be used but it should be considered depending on how sever the crime is. _Becca

  2. All systems are flawed in one way or another. The criminal justice system may improve with updating but it may also ruin the system too. For instance, who is to say that the death penalty should be punishable by law? For some crimes this is an unjust punishment. So what are the right crimes? Not to mention that the death penalty isn't even a very severe punishment in my opinion. Which is worse: ending the criminal's life or putting the criminal through a life of dicipline..giving them time to think about what they did..making them learn from their actions. If you kill them then they learn nothing, they're just dead, done from this world, left without any time for reflection.

  3. The death penalty exists, but it runs according to individual state laws. One of the benefits of having (and utilizing) the death penalty is that it lowers the number of those serving time in jail for extended periods of time. We're human, we like money. This would allow citizens to retain a given amount of money that may otherwise be paid in tax dollars for prisons.

On the other hand, part of me also believes in karma (and forgiveness), and I believe the best form of karma is through extended periods of discipline and self-reflection, as Brittany noted.

One can take on several viewpoints it terms of criminal behavior and punishment. For myself, I cringe at the notion that a murderer is absorbing the benefits of my tax money.
